Starting in October 2021,Pride in Federal Service is hosting a virtual Summit Series featuring presentations, panels, and speakers on LGBTQ+ topics. It is free and open to government employees and contractors.

This series is intended for LGBTQ+ federal Employee Resource Group (ERG) members and leaders, Special Emphasis Program Managers, EEO and Diversity & Inclusion professionals, and LGBTQ+ federal employees and contractors. The series will beheld via Zoom and closed captioning is available; some sessions will be recorded for later viewing.

Pride in Federal Service is an interagency work group focused on sexual orientation and gender identity inclusion in federal employment. We are a community of practice supporting federal LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Groups.

This session will include presentations from Smithsonian Pride Alliance, former Federal GLOBE Board members, and Pride in Federal Service leadership.

October 18, 2021 - 1:30-2:30pm EST - Terms & Pronouns

Terms and Pronouns LGBTQ Cultural Competency.pdf 


The session will feature a presentation from Lucas Johansen at NOAA on LGBTQ+ terms and using pronouns in the workplace, followed by audience Q&A. Lucas will be discussing LGBTQ+ cultural competency with a specific focus on pronouns and gendered language.

October 25, 2021 - 2:00-3:30pm EST - Starting an LGBTQ+ ERG

This session will feature a panel of federal LGBTQ+ ERG leaders sharing their experience and expertise on starting an ERG from scratch, rebuilding and revitalizing semi-functional ERGs, and how to maintain ERG momentum over the years.

November 2 , 2021 - 12:00-1:00pm EST - Intersex: What you need to know.

This session features a presentation from InterACT, advocates for intersex youth. Intersex is an umbrella term for differences in sex traits or reproductive anatomy.

November 10, 2021 - 12:00-1:00pm EST - Questioning, Coming Out, Newly Out

This session features a panel of federal employees talking about the process of questioning and coming out, and navigating being newly out at work.

November 16, 2021 – 1:00-2:00pm EST – Transgender, Nonbinary, and Gender Nonconforming

This session will feature a panel discussion of transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming federal employees.

This session will feature a panel discussion of federal employees who identify as LGBTQ+ Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC).

Monday, November 29, 2021 – 2:00-3:00pm ET - Asexuality

This session will provide information and education on asexuality. This session will NOT be recorded. ASL interpreters are NOT available for this session, we apologize. If you need ASL interpretive services, please contact your agency’s Reasonable Accommodation Specialist, and also let us know. Closed Captioning is available for this session.
