The GLBT Historical Society| San Francisco, CA

NHTSA’s Office of Civil Rights presents historical presentations on LGBTQ+ Pride Month in partnership with the GLBT Historical Society (GLBT).

We invite you to join us as staff from GLBT discuss their history, collections, and mission from one of the largest LGBTQ archival collecting institutions in the world. The first half of the talk will provide an overview of the organization’s vast collections, highlighting the different types of archival materials—from organizational records to photographic collections, to art and artifacts—with examples that illustrate a range of queer people, places, and events from the mid-20th century to the present. The second half of the talk will focus on five figures documented in our archives, and the ways they used photography to present themselves to us as queer and proud.  The presentation will also highlight some aspects of transportation.

Matthew Lewis, President of DOT Pride, a professional resource for LGBTQ+ employees will also be in attendance to share information about this Employee Resource Group.

We are committed to providing equal access to this event for all participants.  Persons with disabilities in need of an accommodation should contact Delante.Wade@dot.gov in the Office of Civil Rights to request an accommodation no later than June 6, 2022.
